Forming Wh-questions and Answers
Wh-questions Wh-question Frame questions with the wh-words in brackets: (Some are done) Rule : i. If there is auxiliary verb in the sentence, the auxiliary is brought before the subject. Examples : a) She has come from school. (Where) -- Where has he come from? b) There are five hundred and fifty students in this school. (How) -- How many students are there in this school? c) I have ten pencils. (How) -- How many pencils do you have? -- How many pencils have you? ii. If there is no auxiliary verb in the sentence 'do' verb is used as the auxiliary verb and it is used beforethe subject. Examples : a) They want a book.
